The exhibition Fragmented Devotion at the McMullen Museum of Boston College explored modes of collecting, displaying and interpreting fragments of medieval devotional art. The catalogue’s typographic structure is based on the tension and dialogue between historical and contemporary elements in the framework of a modern book. Seemingly dissonant typographic elements relate to each other in a subtle way, giving a sense of time and place without becoming illustrative or purely decorative. In 2000 the book was selected for the American Institute of Graphic Arts 50 Books/50 Covers Show.
